With Passover and Easter About Us, What About A Biblical Diet?

Now that we are right in the middle of 2 very important and holy times of the year, I started thinking about a diet that I had heard about a few years back, known as theBiblical Diet.  So I thought I would bring your attention to it.  It is definitely a cleaner, purer way of eating.

First of all, the diet is Kosher.  That means that there are certain dietary rules in place.
  1. You can eat fish with scales, like Salmon and Trout, but you cannot each smooth fish, like Catfish.  This is from Leviticus. Leviticus (11:9-10) states that one should eat "whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters" but not eat "all that have not fins and scales in the seas"  Shellfish is also excluded from a Biblical / Kosher diet.
  2. The other main dietary law taken from The Bible is also taken from Leviticus (11:3 and 11:7-8). Here The Bible says that man should eat “whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud”. Man should not eat “the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.” This means that most animals can  be eaten, such as cows, goats and sheep because all these animals chew their cud and have split hooves.
  3. You cannot mix milk with meat.
For the Biblical Diet, you are supposed to eat the food in the manner of which G-d created it.  This means, no processed foods!!  One example is to choose foods like brown rice, which has not been processed much, unlike white rice, which is significantly processed.  Organic foods and meat from animals that were raised eating grass instead of wild grain is more in line with the foods man was intended to eat. Snacks are not mandated in this diet, but it is advised to feel free to snack on the foods listed as acceptable.

The point here is that we should be eating a variety of whole foods that have not been processed, or that have not been greatly processed.

I found this list of acceptable foods:The types of foods that can be eaten include:

GRAINS - barley, corn, millet, oats, rice, rye, wheat, etc.

SEEDS - sunflower, sesame, flax, pumpkin seeds, etc.

LEGUMES - soybeans, lentils, peas, peanuts, other beans, etc.

SUCCULENT FOODS CONTAINING SEED - bell peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, melons, okra, pumpkins, squash, , tomatoes, etc.

FRUITS - citrus fruits, palm fruits, sweet fruits, etc.

NUTS - almonds, brazil, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc.
The types of animals that can be eaten include:
Animals that part the hoof, cloven footed and chews cud:
    Cow - Deer - Lamb - Caribou - Buffalo - Elk - Goat - Moose

Fish that have fins and scales:
    Bass - Bluefish - Crappie - Perch - Pike - Salmon - Sunfish - Trout

    Birds that are clean:
    Chicken - Turkey - Pheasant - Grouse - Quail

    Clean creeping animals:
    Locusts - Cricket - Grasshopper
THE BASIC PREMISE TO THIS DIET IS TO EAT FOOD IN IT'S NATURAL STATE.  DON'T LIVE TO EAT, EAT TO LIVE.  PRAY BEFORE YOU EAT AND BE THANKFUL FOR THE FOOD YOU HAVE!
EAT CLEAN, LIVE CLEAN AND YOU WILL STAY STRONG!!
      HAPPY PASSOVER AND/OR HAPPY EASTER!!  : )
